Early Advantage Coordinator (Success Coach) (Academic Counselor)

  • Manage and oversee all the activities of the Early Advantage Program and SSP, Early Advantage software; promote the Early Advantage Program to college faculty through a variety of media sources; develop and implement faculty and staff training and on-line Moodle training materials.

  • Work closely with Academic Advisors and Success Coach Advisors to promote engagement and retention of students identified as being at-risk.

  • Collaborate with and develop pathways with all student support areas on campus to provide support to students referred to EAP (including but not limited to TASC, Writing Place, Math Space, Disability Services, Single Stop, Dream keepers Student Emergency Fund, College Connection)

  • Provide guidance and advise students who are experiencing academic, career, educational and personal challenges in developing short term and long term academic, career and life plans.

  • Advise and orient students to the academic process, program requirements and resources. Assess students needs and refer students to appropriate offices for additional services. Assist students with utilizing technological resources: Web Advisor, Portal, BHCC email and BHCC website. Serve as a liaison for students helping them interact with college staff/administration/faculty.

  • Coordinate development and delivery of Steps to Success Workshop Series. Develop a comprehensive schedule of workshops to support student success at the College. Recruit, train and oversee College staff to facilitate workshops. Publicize events and maintain reservation system and compile and report on statistics related to programming.

  • Coordinate with Institutional Effectiveness to compile, monitor and accurately report the vital statistics necessary for program assessment.

  • Collaborate with the Life map Center Team (Academic Advising, Career/Internships, Dream keepers Student Emergency Fund and Single Stop) to assist in the planning and delivery of programs designed to promote student success and retention.

  • Masters degree in counseling, counseling psychology, student personnel, higher education, educational leadership or a related field preferred.

  • Three years of experience in counseling, advising, or a related student development field is required; community college or higher education experience in a commuter institution is preferred.

Special skills or abilities related to position:

  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication, leadership, computer and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate the effectiveness of student support services.

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize technology in the design and delivery of programs and services that support student retention and student success.

  • Knowledge of advising, learning theory, and current research in career, crisis, and personal advising.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance for students who are experiencing academic, career, educational and personal challenges.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply theory and research, ability to establish positive working relationships and work collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the college community and create programs to support academically at-risk students.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population.

  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.

  • Flexible and open to change.

  • A willingness and ability to work evenings and some weekends is required.

Salary Range: $50,785.00 -$62,212.00. Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education & Experience in Accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Full state Benefits.
