Position Summary
The assistant athletic trainer works under the supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine and supervises the care of student athletes competing in the University's athletic program. The assistant athletic trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries within the University's comprehensive sports medicine program.

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's Degree and NATA certification required. Eligible for N.C. Licensure.

Preferred education/experience/skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training is highly desired. Master's Degree in Athletic Training or a related field preferred. Certified by the Board of Certification (BOC); member in good standing of NATA; and valid State of North Carolina Athletic Trainer License or Eligible for Licensure, required.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
• Knowledge of methods for the prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses
• Ability to evaluate athletic injuries
• Skill in the treatment of athletic injuries
• Ability to provide counseling and education to student athletes
• Ability to complete athletic training administrative duties
• Ability to assist with coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for home and away competitions
• Ability to maintain recordkeeping and documentation as needed to include insurance and NCAA drug testing
• Ability to work with doctors and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student athletes
• Ability to follow the administrative procedures established by the University and the department
• Ability to compile necessary data and reports to meet departmental and University requirements
• Ability to keep informed of and observes all regulations of the NCAA, as well as specific rules to the University pertaining to intercollegiate athletics. The violation of NCAA rules may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

This is a 10 month position.

Official transcripts are required upon employment, and will be requested directly from the college/university by Human Resources. Any expense will be the responsibility of the employee. Educational degrees required must be from an appropriately accredited institution.
