Working Title: Recreation & Athl Spec 4-URC Manager

Job Summary/Essential Functions: The purpose of this position is to plan, organize and manage the total recreation program for the EWU Recreation Center. A major segment of the recreation program includes work in the University Ice Rink and the supporting activities to include operation of a resale area, skate rental shop, skate maintenance, ice rink maintenance to include operation of the ice resurfacer for ice maintenance. The position will also be cross-trained to assist in other areas of the university recreation facilities

Conditions of Employment: This position, during the course of university employment, will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 18. Successful applicant will be required to pass a background check. This is an agency shop position.

Required Degree: Bachelors

Degree required by: Date of application

Required Discipline(s) for Degree: A Bachelor's degree involving major study in either (a) recreation or therapeutic recreation, (b) music, drama, or physical education, or (c) psychology, sociology, or education with a minor in recreation, physical education, music, or drama.

Certifications from a nationally recognized Ice Rink Operations Training School in the areas of Ice Making and Maintenance, Ice Making Equipment Operations, Risk Management.

Minimum Qualifications: Position Specific Requirements:

-A Bachelor's degree involving major study in either (a) recreation or therapeutic recreation, (b) music, drama, or physical education, or (c) psychology, sociology, or education with a minor in recreation, physical education, music, or drama.

-Two (2) years full-time paid experience as an Ice Technician and proof of training certificates from a nationally recognized Ice Rink management training organization/institution.

-Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency and/or diversity.

Preferred Qualifications: Two years full time experience managing a comprehensive Ice Rink program to include experience with public skating sessions, skating lesson programs, event management of hockey games, and various ice sport activities such as broomball and curling, risk manangement for ice sports.
