Position Summary:
The Program Coordinator II will oversee the daily operations of the skills labs. The Program Coordinator II manages the laboratories to provide students with high-quality instructional resources, supplies, and supplemental laboratory instruction. This position also assists simulation faculty with creation, set up, and implementation of simulation scenarios.

Job Duties:

Maintain Texas RN Licensure and credentials.

Maintain current knowledge of relevant clinical issues and teaching methods suitable to the learning laboratory.

Coordinate the setup of clinical skills practice labs for ADN and VN students.

Assist ADN faculty with coordinating lab instructions and validations as requested.

Provide lab instructions and evaluate skill validations for VN students.

Act as a resource person for ADN and VN students using the nursing clinical and computer labs during open practice hours, and for skills remediation.

Provide supplemental student support and supervision of clinical skills for ADN and VN students referred by faculty.

Collaborate with ADN and VN simulation faculty members in the development of new simulated laboratory experiences for students.

Assist ADN simulation faculty with implementation of simulation scenarios.

Provide instruction during simulation scenarios for VN students.

Evaluate VN student learning during simulation scenarios.

Assist ADN faculty with simulation instruction in the classroom.

Provide instruction during classroom simulations for VN students.

Mentor ADN and VN students in professional development by role modeling appropriate behavior and critical thinking.

Assist ADN and VN students in utilizing computer software available in assigned laboratories.

Supervise ADN and VN program video and book library.

Maintain an inventory of all equipment, including software, located in the assigned laboratories.

Collaborate with faculty to identify supportive services, equipment, and software needed for assigned laboratories and submit requests to appropriate faculty as well as the Director of Nursing.

Coordinate the ordering and storage of all supplies and equipment used in the assigned laboratories.

Assist the budget manager to oversee lab expenditures according to the instructional budget.

Assist in grant funding requests by obtaining vendor quotes and capturing necessary data.

Develop and revise, in collaboration with the appropriate faculty and the Director, policies and procedures related to the safe usage of equipment and laboratory space.

Collaborate with Director in interviewing, and hiring of lab employees.

Manage lab employees by orienting, communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring and appraising job results.

Facilitate and oversee maintenance of simulators and laboratory equipment.

Coordinate the cleaning of equipment in assigned laboratories.

Attend nursing faculty meetings as needed.

Other duties as assigned.



Minimum Education/Training/Experience:
Associate of Science Degree in Nursing and two (2) years of recent relevant clinical practice experience in a medical setting.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
Bachelors degree in Nursing. A minimum of 3 years academic educational experience. Must be able to function independently; high degree of organizational and interpersonal skills; highly competent in nursing theory and clinical nursing skills.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
Principles and practices of teaching.

Demonstrates continued competency as a nurse clinician.

Training techniques.

Student engagement techniques.

Detailed knowledge of material taught in courses and program areas.

Record keeping procedures to capture lab usage, supplies, and scheduling.

Interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with students, coworkers, supervisor, and the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
