Position Summary:
Responsible for performing various professional level duties related to program coordination for a specific College program.
Job Duties:
Classroom and Range instruction for COM police academy, security guard and Civilian programs; classroom and firearms instruction for Galveston County Law Enforcement Academy and local Law Enforcement departments
Supervise and manage adjunct staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; ensuring staff are trained; making hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations for adjunct Firearms, Security and CE staff.
Assist in the development, implementation, coordination, and supervision of program goals, objectives, and activities.
Course Development
Maintain inventory of supplies and various records and databases
Range Maintenance
Prepare various reports and correspondence related to area assignment, such as billing and contracts; record keeping
Respond to requests for information from faculty, staff, students, outside agencies, and the community regarding program
Plans, prepares and administers program budgets
Restocking ammunition, targets and supplies, set up for agencies/academies use
Firearm maintenance and repair
Attends and participates in various workshops, seminars, and meetings and serves on various committees and advisory boardsPerforms other duties as necessary for the position of Range Master
Minimum Education/Training/Experience:
Advanced Peace Officer certification or higher and 10 years of Texas Peace Officer experience in patrol, field duty position, and/or criminal investigations, or professional experience related to the program assignment; or an equivalent combination of the required education, CHL Instructor, and related 5-10 years experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job Firearms Instructor with a minimum of 5 years active LE Firearms Instruction 2 or more Armorer certifications
Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or other related field in addition to minimum education/training/experience
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
Minimum knowledge of firearms training techniques, applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations related to firearms, including but not limited to the possession, storage and handling of firearms, and applicable CHL laws and security-related laws and regulations.
Interpersonal skills: students, faculty, staff and college administration
Applicable computer hardware and software

Monitoring and evaluating staff
