Job Summary

Supports the strategic mission of the assigned college, department, or unit through the development, implementation, measurement, and optimization of sophisticated marketing and community outreach initiatives. Responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive strategic marketing plan to support key department activities, events, and programs. Collaborates with department staff, administration, students, and/or faculty to grow awareness among prospective students and the general public. Manages the public communication of the department by deploying campaigns and strategies across various platforms including websites, other web assets, social media accounts, digital advertisements, email marketing, internal and external news coverage, and event listings, while maintaining university branding standards.

Responsibilities

design KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Creates event-specific marketing and promotional plans, including strategic advertisement placements for featured events
2. Develops goals and objectives for department outreach activities
3. Creates a strategic outreach and recruitment contact plan
4. Tracks, measures, evaluates, and reports data results and effectiveness of marketing and promotional campaigns
5. Serves as project manager for department outreach events
6. Coordinates the creation and strategic deployment of press releases, email marketing campaigns, audio and visual digital media assets, and other promotional copy
7. Manages the design, production, and execution of advertising campaigns promoting featured events
8. Creates, designs, and implements the production of departmental marketing materials, working closely with department staff
9. Publishes and maintains public event calendars on the college website, Facebook, live streaming calendar, KSU Master Calendar, and other online listings
10. Manages department website design, content updates and optimization projects
11. Manages all social media accounts including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and/or YouTube
12. Serves as budget manager for funds identified for marketing and outreach as assigned by the director or department leader
13. Responsible for maintaining established university branding, marketing, and communication standards
14. May be responsible for staff, intern, and/or student assistant supervision and performance management
15. Based on location may be responsible for driving ticket sales and attendance for public events

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution of higher education

Required Experience
Three (3) years of marketing and/or communications experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Preferred Experience
Experience using Google AdWords/Display Network, Google Analytics, Adobe Creative Cloud, Facebook Ads Manager, email marketing, and other digital marketing platforms
Experience managing social media strategy across multiple accounts and platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube
Previous experience with graphic design

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Able to think strategically and creatively
Able to use graphic design software (Adobe Creative Cloud or similar software) for content adjustments in alignment with graphic needs and overall brand in accordance with KSU visual identity program
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Strong writing, and proofreading skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Cloud software suite or similar software)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
