Description:
The Simmons School of Education & Human Development at Southern Methodist University (SMU) is currently accepting applications for two (2) tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sport Management positions.

Candidates are expected to research and teach classes within the sport management programs while also mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. The expected distribution of effort is 40% research, 40% teaching, and 20% service. We are specifically looking for scholars whose research focuses on one of the following areas:

- Sport Analytics

- Technology & Artificial Intelligence in Sport

- Sport Finance & Economics

- International/Global Sport

- Intercollegiate athletics

This position includes teaching graduate courses in the Master of Science Sport Management program and/or undergraduate courses in the Bachelor of Science in Sport Management. We prefer candidates who can teach a diverse range of courses within these programs. Candidates will be expected to teach evening and some weekend classes. Candidates are also expected to maintain office hours and an appropriate student-centered presence on campus while participating in service that contributes to the development, growth, and expansion of the sport management programs. The Simmons School of Education and Human Development was founded in 2005 and is ranked among the top 15 private graduate education schools in the United States. The school has undergraduate and graduate programs across five academic departments, including Applied Physiology and Sport Management, Counseling, Education Policy and Leadership, Human-Centered Interdisciplinary Studies, and Teaching and Learning. Qualifications:
- Doctorate in sport management or related fields such as organizational behavior, data science, analytics, finance, economics, or related disciplines in hand by August 2025.

- Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate sport management courses.

- A strong record of published, peer-reviewed research and external funding (or demonstrated potential to do so).

- Experience in the sports industry is preferred.
