The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician plays a vital role in supporting the operations of the College of Dental Medicine (CDM) Clinics with a primary role at The Dental Center in Pomona by ensuring that all surgical and dental instruments are cleaned, sterilized, and maintained in compliance with industry standards. This individual will work closely with faculty, staff, and students to provide sterile instruments and equipment necessary for academic and clinical activities. This individual will also support the education mission of CDM.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must be a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from HSPA and have a minimum of one years experience as a Certified Sterile Processing Technician.

Knowledge of sterile processing and infection prevention principles.

Must have demonstrated knowledge in aseptic infection control and sterilization techniques as they relate to dental practice.

Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively interact with health care professionals, students, and patients. Bilingual ability is helpful.

Proficient with computers, use of dental technology, electronic health record, printers, calculator, fax machine, copy machine operation, electronic mail, video communications programs and telephone operation. Continuous creating a safe, effective environment for patient care, and teamwork

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from HSPA.

Demonstrated proficiency in operating and maintaining sterilization equipment, including autoclaves.

One or more years of experience as a Certified Sterile Processing Technician.

Preferred Qualifications

.Prior experience in sterile processing within a dental or academic healthcare setting.

Knowledge of dental instruments and equipment.

Familiarity with inventory management systems.

Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Preference given to those with experience in dental education.
