Job Description:

The History Department at The University of Texas at El Paso seeks to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Texas History to begin in the fall of 2020. We invite applications from scholars with research interests in any facet or period of the history of Texas. We are especially interested in critical and innovative scholarship that addresses issues such as, but not limited to, gender and sexuality, race and racialization, immigration, transnationalism, and diaspora. We expect the successful applicant to chair dissertation committees and otherwise play a central role in our doctoral program in Borderlands History, and we are particularly interested in applicants who can contribute to our mission of equity, diversity, and inclusion. The successful applicant will regularly teach an upper division survey of Texas History--which is required of students seeking certification to teach history in Texas schools--as well as the U.S. History survey, and should be able to offer other courses in U.S. History as well. UTEP is an R1 research institution, and history faculty generally have a 2x2 teaching load. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Requirements:

A Ph.D. in history or closely related field required at time of appointment.
