PT - Welcome Center Assistant

Mid Point Salary Range: $12.50/hour

Position Type: Non-Exempt Staff

Position Summary:
Welcome Center staff provides information on the admissions process, registering, creating a semester schedule, financial aid, and connecting students to other support services. The WCA also greets community members to assist them with information about the college, and gives directions to campus events.

Job Duties:

- Provide excellent customer service by welcoming visitors to COM, answering questions to the best of your ability, and wearing a staff nametag and approved apparel.
-Triaging students to determine where they need to start.
- Maintain an organized front desk
-Check in/out students using the Whos Next program
- Submit maintenance, technology, and marketing requests as needed or directed.
- Assist in the scheduling of rooms.
- Maintain an organized and clean environment.
- Monitor sign posting and remove outdated signage.
- Supervision of Student Help Center room, interacting with students /staff, and ensuring that they conduct themselves safely and according to rules and policy.
- Cleans the WC area.
Administration
- Check Welcome email/Student Job Postings daily, respond to Welcome related emails within one business day.
-Assist students with FAFSA, Apply Texas application, other college related forms.
-Work with Admissions staff to assist with students who have not completed admissions requirements.
-Work with Financial Aid staff to assist students who have not completed Financial Aid requirements.
-Work with Student Success Center to help identify student holds, complete registration, course scheduling, and other assistance as needed.
-Assisting student and community to college program information
-Relating information about campus events, directions on campus
- Submit timesheet for hours worked by provided deadlines.
Staff Development
We seek to support the success of students at College of the Mainland and build skills that will benefit them beyond graduation.
- Arrive prepared and punctual to all trainings and meetings.
- Actively participate in all trainings and staff meetings.
-Complete all HR required training material



Minimum Education/Training/Experience:
- Maintain 2.5 Cumulative GPA - Be in good standing with College of the Mainland regarding all student conduct, academic standing, and financial accounts.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
None

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
Business arithmetic;
- The use of specified computer applications (Datatel/Colleague, Microsoft Office,) involving management of databases or spreadsheet files;
-The use of internet searches
- Complex or technical office practices and procedures; record keeping practices;
- Applicable regulations, policies and statutes;
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a face pace environment.
- Hard worker, good attitude, sense of humor
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with students, faculty, vendors and staff.
- Highly organized; independent.
- Making accurate arithmetic calculations;
- Operating standard office equipment; reading and explaining rules, policies and procedures;
- Organizing own work and setting priorities
- Excellent Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.



Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Bi-Lingual in Spanish is a plus but not required.
