Position Summary
The Head Soccer Coach for Incarnate Word High School will assume all responsibility for building the Incarnate Word High School soccer program into a competitive program. Teams participate in various local games and are part of TAPPS 6A competition.

Description of Job Duties
-Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport;
- Assesses students skills and assigns team positions;
-Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development;
-Works with the athletic director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition;
-Assigns duties to an assistant coach as necessary;
-Coaches and instructs students, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport;
-Observes athletes, during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement;
-Determines the game strategy based on the teams capabilities;
-Establishes and maintains standards for behavior and provides proper supervision of students at all times;
-Monitors the academic performances of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met; encourages student-athletes to maintain a high academic standard;
-Follows established procedures in the event of an injury;
-Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the performance of their student;
-Follows TAPPS regulations;
-Models sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, officials, and spectators;
-Acts as a team representative and promotes the soccer program;
-Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms;
-Participates in special activities to include parents night, banquets, awards night and pep assemblies;
-Works with the athletic director with eligibility, equipment inventory and other related paperwork;
-Attends staff meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance;
-Performs any other related duties as assigned by the principal and athletic director.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
-Possess effective coaching techniques and skills;
-Knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies and techniques of the sport;
-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents and students;
-Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Required Education
High School Diploma or its equivalent

Required Work Experience
-Three (3) years of coaching experience;

Preferred Qualifications
-Bachelors degree;
-Experience as a player of the sport;
-Five (5) years of coaching experience;
-Some experience as an assistant coach at the high school or college level

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Must have CDL or obtain CDL within 45 days of being hired with the ability to be insured through UIWs vehicle insurance carrier
