The Psychology Department at Eastern Washington University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in the NASP-approved School Psychology Ed.S. Program, to begin September 2013.
Eastern Washington University is committed to the selection, training, supervision, and professional success of students in the Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology, in keeping with the high standards established by the National Association of School Psychologist (NASP). The program offers a structured sequence of curricular and clinical experiences with an emphasis on closely supervised training experiences both at the University and in the community. The program adheres to a scientist-practitioner model and emphasizes problem solving across all levels of need within schools. Program faculty members have established strong relationships with area K-12 schools, and students engage in meaningful practica and internship experiences across their three years in the program.
Eastern has a proud history of providing education to a high percentage of first generation college students, often from under-represented and lower socioeconomic communities, a tradition which the Ed.S. School Psychology program maintains. Thus, school psychology training occurs in a learning community that is intentionally focused on both skill development and personal growth of students. In this way, the program fulfills its purpose of preparing diverse, competent, and caring professional school psychologists to meet the needs of diverse urban and rural communities. The selected candidate will join a committed and enthusiastic Department faculty.

Responsibilities
1) Faculty at EWU are expected to devote 80% of their effort to teaching activities; 10% to research, scholarship, and/or creative activities; and 10% to service to the Department, College, University, and local community
2) Teaching activities include the following related responsibilities:
oTypical workload for this position will involve 36 credits per academic year, subject to Department needs, primarily at EWU's main campus in Cheney, WA
oTeach courses in this NASP-approved program such as, Professional School Psychology, Academic Assessment, and Multicultural Issues in Assessment, Practicum and Internship supervision courses, and/or other courses that fulfill the need of the Department and Program
oAlthough not expected, there may be opportunities for summer quarter instruction
oAdvising students who are declared majors on Department, College, and University requirements and career opportunities
3) Participate in the leadership of local, state, and regional professional organizations
4) Pursue productive research, scholarship and/or creative activities, including professional activities leading to publication, performance, and/or formal presentation in the field
5) Pursue research funding through grant development
6) Mentor student research
7) Collaborate with colleagues in utilization of creativity and best practice knowledge in curriculum development, classroom instruction, and student supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:
1) Ph.D. in School Psychology (or related field with specialist level training as a school psychologist); ABD candidates may be considered (PhD must be conferred by 1/1/2014 for this position which begins 9/16/2013)
2) Eligibility for Washington State ESA certification in School Psychology or Psychology Licensure
3) Commitment to an active research program
4) Competent with and experienced using, database, email, and other forms of instruction technology
5) Demonstrated high degree of interest, ability, and/or experience promoting cultural competency and/or diversity
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who also offer one ore more of the following:
1) Eligibility for Nationally Certified School Psychologist
2) Successful teaching experience at the college or university level
3) Experience working as School Psychologist in educational setting
