General Description
Under the supervision of the Health Center Director, the College Nurse will assist in the planning, development and delivery of a wide variety of health and wellness services for our diverse community of students and staff.
This position is a 10-month, full-time position.
Monday -Friday 7:45 a.m. -4:45 p.m.
Initial placement is at $50.08 per hour

Job Duties
Job duties of the College Nurse include:
resources.
Contraception) in accordance with established protocols.
intervention and disaster programs.
referral resources for students.
dissemination of health education materials for students and staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience):
Any combination equivalent to: Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college and three (3) years of experience within the past 5 years in one or more of the following settings: school/college health, acute care, emergency health, public health or occupational health. Bilingual skills are desirable.
Licenses and Other Requirements:
- Minimum qualifications of the California Board of Registered Nursing
- Current, valid California RN license
- Current CPR/AED certificate or willingness to obtain same
- Current California driver's license
Working Conditions
Environment
- Health Office environment
- Evening hours and summer session hours may be required
- Ability to drive to and from satellite facilities to conduct Student Health Services
Physical Abilities
- lift equipment up to 30 pounds
- kneel on ground/floor for medical emergencies
- squat, bend and reach
- walk briskly while pushing wheelchair for medical emergencies
- demonstrate dexterity of both hands and fingers
- demonstrate acuity of vision and hearing
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Current community health nursing practice, including communicable disease control, adult and adolescent health care, reproductive health care, substance abuse issues and prevention, mental health trends and resources for care.
- Current community health resources for consultation, referral and treatment.
- Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
- Pyramed electronic medical management system and software.
Ability to:
- Assess emergency situations; administer first aid, CPR and AED response, and other appropriate nursing care, information and/or referral.
- Work effectively in crisis situations.
- Conduct preventive health programs.
- Work independently in planning, organizing and delivering health services within the parameters of accepted standards imposed by the nurse practice act and accepted/approved protocols.
- Establish and maintain effective collaborations and working relationships with students, staff and the community.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Problem-solve and think critically.
- Understand, be sensitive and have a commitment to provide health services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically and academically diverse students and staff, and those with disabilities.
- Perform basic computer skills
