As the third largest institution of higher education in Colorado and the only institution with an open access mission, MSU Denver is a model university for today's students. The University serves the most diverse undergraduate student population in the state, as well as the most first-generation students. Through affordable, flexible, and holistic education, MSU Denver helps students build essential skills grounded in a multicultural and global perspective that lead to undergraduate and graduate degrees, and career and life success.

About the Department of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy's mission is to provide our students, ourselves, and our community with opportunities to join in ongoing conversations about the nature and meaning of human existence in a rigorous, critical, and open-ended manner. We are committed to both freedom of inquiry and the value of truth. Our department is composed of a program coordinator and dedicated teacher-scholars, currently including nine tenure-track faculty, two full-time lecturers, and a talented group of part-time affiliates. Our department offers a B.A. in Philosophy and minors in both Philosophy and Religious Studies. Our department also serves as the home for the Denver Project for Humanistic Inquiry, which enriches Denver's intellectual and cultural life through programs that reframe perspectives, challenge assumptions, and stimulate dialogue about human thought, history, science, art and culture. Philosophy is unlike other disciplines: students learn not just what others have discovered, but also how to think about themselves, the world, and the relation between them. In our classes, students learn how to think more critically about moral values while developing their own perspectives.
